Although the studs are almost the same size, the Dornenglanz II is almost a completely new rubber. The studs of the Dornenglanz II are slightly wider than those of the Dornenglanz and also have a cylindrical shape. The rubber compound is medium-hard and very elastic. The nubs are also slightly shinier than those of the Dornenglanz, but less sticky. Technically, the main difference between these two rubbers is the lower natural rubber content in the rubber compound of the Dornenglanz II.
The Dornenglanz II can be played more versatile than the Dornenglanz. While the Dornenglanz may be more dangerous for blocking, the Dornenglanz II is better for most other shots. It's excellent for slashing and attacking, and even for blocking it's not much worse than the Dornenglanz. It is quite easy to control and all balls played with this rubber have a very flat trajectory.
The Dornenglanz II is also faster than most of our other long pimple rubbers. It is slightly faster than the Dornenglanz and slower than the Feuerstich, but much faster than all other rubbers.
The Dornenglanz II is perfect for experienced players looking for a rubber that is faster, harder and slightly more dangerous than the Agenda or the Blitzschlag without being less versatile. High level players will mainly use the Dornenglanz II for slashing, as the higher speed minimizes the opponent's reaction time. Also, the very flat trajectory of the balls played with the Dornenglanz II makes continuous attacks against this rubber very difficult.
